Understanding Colombian Amazonia White sand forest

Today Maria Cristina Penuela Mora succesfully defended her thesis "Understanding Colombian Amazonia White sand forest" in the Academic Building of Utrecht Univeristy.

Maria Cristina worked several years in the Colombian Amazon collectin data for here thesis, in the mean time setting up the Zafire Field Station and a large forest plot. Her thesis deals with the results of her floristic and experimental work, with chapters dealing with: Species composition of white sand forests in western amazon; forest dynamics in a white sand forest in the Colombian Amazon; Effects of soil conditions on the performance of tree seedlings from terra firme and white sand forests; Drought resistance of rainforest tree seedlings from white sand and terra firme forests.
